A 34-year-old Zimbabwean woman, Stacy Thokozani Mkhandla, has been arrested for fatally stabbing her husband’s girlfriend after catching them together in their matrimonial home.
The shocking incident took place in Gweru’s Mkoba Village 14 on Saturday night, February 10, 2024, leaving the community in disbelief.
According to reports, Mkhandla was attending an all-night church prayer when she received a tip-off from neighbors about her husband bringing his girlfriend, Brightness Nancy Phiri, into their house.
Upon returning home around 10 pm, Mkhandla found her husband and Phiri entangled on the couple’s bed. Enraged, she attempted to stab Phiri but her husband intervened, taking the knife away.
Undeterred, Mkhandla fetched another knife from the kitchen and fatally stabbed Phiri multiple times. Phiri managed to flee but collapsed and died on the street outside.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, confirmed the incident, stating that Mkhandla was arrested and Phiri’s body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital.
