After a prolonged struggle with blood clotting in his leg, veteran actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has passed away. He breathed his last in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.
According to family sources, the actor had been on life support following a second surgery for his condition. His blood pressure remained dangerously high, exceeding 200, even after the surgery, and efforts were underway to stabilize it before his unfortunate demise this evening. Mr Ibu had been grappling with recurring blood clotting in his leg, along with other health issues, for an extended period. In October 2023, he publicly appealed for financial assistance to address his ailment. Plans to transport him abroad for further medical treatment were scrapped by his doctors, who deemed him unfit to travel.
During his treatment, Mr Ibu underwent a leg amputation in November 2023. He leaves behind his wife, children, and a legacy of brilliant comedic performances in the film industry.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen.
