In the January transfer window, Kylian Mbappe will be the subject of an offer from Real Madrid. They will try to sign Erling Haaland despite recent suggestions from the local press that he is a viable replacement for the French sensation.
With less than six months remaining on his contract, Real Madrid is expected to make Mbappe an offer on January 1st, according to Diario AS. This is the earliest date Mbappe can accept an offer. They will then give him until January 15th, a period of two weeks, to accept their offer.
When Los Blancos believed they had a deal sealed in 2021, Mbappe had previously refused to sign anything to keep their relationship with PSG intact. However, this time, they will not accept any other response from Mbappe that isn’t a signed contract.
Real Madrid will turn its focus to pursuing Haaland if Mbappe delays or declines the offer. The team had discussions with the Norwegian prior to his wildly successful transfer to Manchester City.
Haaland has reportedly told his camp not to close off his options to join Real Madrid, and there are plenty of reasons to suspect he might suit them too. Not only is he a pure number nine, which would fit better with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes, the hubris surrounding Mbappe is now a factor to consider for Los Blancos. That said, it is hard to imagine Real Madrid giving up on Mbappe after a pursuit that has lasted just under a decade now.
