In order to avoid paying her medical bills, a patient at the Federal Medical Centre in Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, is allegedly on the run and is being sought after by the Ogun State Police Command.
The patient, named Saba Elizabeth, allegedly ran away on Saturday, December 2, from the medical center after receiving treatment for an unidentified illness because she was unable to pay her bills.
It was gathered that she was admitted to the medical center’s gynecology unit on November 11, 2023, and was supposed to be discharged on November 16, 2023.
However, due to her failure to pay her hospital bills, she was prevented from leaving the hospital.
She was alleged to have lied to hospital staff that she went to buy food at a local store but never returned to the hospital.
The Chief Security Officer of the medical centre, Akpoji Joshua, confirmed the incident, saying the matter has been reported to the Kemta Police Division.
Omolola Odutola, the state Police Public Relations Officer, told reporters on Tuesday that the police in Kemta Division were assisting the hospital in locating the patient.
“We are investigating to unravel her whereabouts through her family members,” she simply stated.
