A tailor named Adua Fatogun has been remanded by an Ondo State Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a pot of soup.
Fatogun was brought before the court on charges of burglary and theft, allegedly committed on October 12, 2023, around 9 am at Ifeleye Street, Ayeyemi in Ondo town.
The 19-year-old suspect is also accused of stealing gas cylinders and other items valued at N311,100.
The defendant is alleged to have stolen belongings belonging to three individuals: Felix Ogunbolade, Adeoga Aboodun, and Akinsete Adurayemi.
According to Police prosecutor Bernard Olagbayi, these offenses violate Section 383 and are punishable under Section 412(1), 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State.
Upon hearing the charges, Fatogun pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.
Olagbayi requested an adjournment to allow him to present prosecution witnesses and prepare them for trial.
However, the defendant did not have legal representation.
The presiding Magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin, ruled to remand the defendant until February 19, 2024, for trial.
