For culpable homicide and attempted armed robbery, the Zamfara State High Court of Justice has sentenced one person to life in prison and one to death by hanging.
The presiding judge, Justice Mukhtar Yusha’u, found both of them guilty during the trial.
Anas Dahiru, a resident of Gusau’s Unguwar Dallatu neighborhood in Zamfara State, was charged in 2017 with fatally stabbing his friend Shamsu Ibrahim with a knife after they got into an argument over N100.
Dahiru was found guilty by Justice Yusha’u and given a hanging death sentence in accordance with Section 221 of the panel code.
Sadiqu Abubakar was found guilty by the presiding judge of attempting an armed robbery in the Bungudu local government area of Zamfara State.
Sadiqu was found guilty of assaulting a businessman in Runji village, located within the Bungudu local government area of the state.
Justice Mukhtar Yusha’u stated that Sadiqu Abubakar violated Section 221 of the panel code and consequently sentenced him to life imprisonment.
