Nigerian singer Oxlade has revealed that he was subjected to blackmail with his private videos for two years before they were eventually leaked online.
The ‘Kulosa’ crooner stated that the scandal resulted in him losing endorsement deals worth N400 million.
In an interview with entertainment journalist Joey Akan, Oxlade admitted that the videos were authentic.
He further disclosed that while it was a relief for him to stop paying the blackmailer, it had a significant impact on his family, particularly his grandmother, who repeatedly expressed concern about his well-being.
Additionally, he shared that the ordeal led him into a dark period, prompting him to seek rehabilitation in the UK. Oxlade emphasized that the release of multiple videos should have indicated to Nigerians that it was a targeted attack against him.
Reflecting on the experience, he concluded that it taught him that those closest to him could inflict harm, as some individuals were threatened by his progress. Despite the challenges, he noted that he managed to grow and achieve significant success, with one of the biggest songs in the country last year.
