The Kano State Hisbah Board Department of Public Enlightenment has issued a warning to non-Muslims in the state regarding eating in public places during Ramadan fasting.
Director-General of the Board, Abba Sai’Idu, conveyed this message during a conversation with AIT Live, emphasizing that it is deemed unlawful for Christians and other non-Muslims to openly consume food or engage in any public activities that might undermine the Islamic faith or tempt fasting individuals.
Furthermore, the Hisbah Boss mentioned that the enforcement team is conducting more frequent patrols throughout the city to apprehend any Muslims observed partaking in practices contrary to Islamic culture during the sacred month. In line with the Holy Quran, Muslims are expected to refrain from eating, drinking, engaging in sexual activities, smoking, and other prohibited acts during daylight hours.
In past years, the Kano State Hisbah Board has been known to arrest individuals caught eating during Ramadan.
