The arrested individual, Chinaza Philip-Okoye, detained in Abuja, has asserted that he is involved in car robbery rather than kidnapping.
Previously apprehended by a joint team of FCT and Kaduna police officers in Kaduna, he and his accomplices, who are currently on the run, were intercepted while transporting an alleged kidnap victim, Segun Akinyemi, from Abuja to Kano State.
Speaking to reporters during the criminal suspects’ parade at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command on Wednesday, January 24, Chinaza claimed that he and his gang specialize in stealing cars and selling them in Kano.
Addressing journalists, he began, “First of all, I want to greet the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” and went on to emphasize that he would provide truthful information during his statement.
