Natacha Akide, also known as Tacha from the Big Brother Naija reality TV show, has voiced criticism against feminism in Nigeria.
She referred to Nigerian feminism as witchcraft during her recent interview, particularly when discussing her conflict with Mummy Zee.
Tacha previously discussed Mummy Zee in an interview on Phyna’s show, highlighting Mummy Zee’s routine of waking up at 4:30 a.m. daily to attend to her husband.
When a social media user informed Mummy Zee about Tacha’s criticism on the show, Mummy Zee responded with a dismissive remark, calling Tacha “that one wey no get sense.”
Tacha, offended by the remark, reacted strongly through several social media posts.
However, during a widely circulated interview with respected media personality Chude Jideonwo, Tacha denied the claims made by the social media user, stating that she was actually supportive of Mummy Zee during the broadcast.
In describing her own stance on feminism, Tacha labeled Nigeria’s version as akin to witchcraft.
“So, I was literally praising this woman on my show, saying why was feminist trolling her because I love feminist then.
“I was like the feminism you people practiced in Nigeria is witchcraft because when you are supposed to come out you people won’t come out but for the wrong things you just hate men in general. That’s not what I practiced.”
