A Nigerian Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Godwin Tyagher, has prayed for rain as crops continue to wither in many farming Nigerian communities.
The priest took to his official Social media page on Tuesday, August 13, to seek God’s intervention over the drought running into weeks, with various crops, including maize, melon, maize, yam, and millet, among others, drying up.
Recall that hundreds of Christians and Muslims in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State on Monday, August 12, converged at their different places of worship to pray for rain as crops in various communities in the LGA continue to wither.
While Muslims gathered at the Eid ground for the prayer session, their Christian counterparts held prayers in various churches across the LGA to seek God’s intervention over the drought running into weeks.
Praying for God’s mercy, Tyagher wrote; “Lord God, rescue us our Saviour and turn your anger away from us. Do not be angry with us forever. May you turn around and give us peace and life again. May you kindly give us rain if not your children will face more hardships and hunger next year more than this year. Restore us with rain Father of Mercy, be merciful to your people.”
