Officials from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) apprehended three individuals suspected of engaging in vote-buying during bye-elections monitoring in Sokoto State.
The statement released on Saturday revealed that the suspects, aged 48, 37, and 38, were found at a polling unit in Yabo/Shagari Federal Constituency with N3,105,400 within the voting premises. The suspects are now in ICPC custody, and investigations have commenced.
The ICPC emphasized collaboration with INEC for the prosecution of these cases. In a related incident, the ICPC Adamawa State Election monitoring team arrested two suspects near Yelwa Primary School in Mayo Belwa Local Government Area with N500,000 suspected for vote-buying during the bye-elections. Investigations are ongoing in collaboration with INEC.
