The remains of Yunusa Peter, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who tragically passed away while watching the AFCON semifinal match between Nigeria and South Africa, have been transported from Yola, Adamawa State, to his hometown in Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State for his final burial.
According to reports from LIB, Yunusa collapsed and died while viewing the match, which concluded in a penalty shootout, in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State on Wednesday, February 7. Despite his untimely passing, the Super Eagles emerged victorious in the game.
Yunusa, a 26-year-old graduate in Community Health from Shehu Idris College of Health Technology, Makarfi, Kaduna State, was scheduled to complete his mandatory national youth service program on October 31, 2024.
At the time of his passing, Yunusa was serving as a Chemistry teacher at Government Secondary School Numan.
On Saturday, February 10, Secretary to Numan LGA, Adamawa State, Elder David Belu Alfredmond, along with the Principal of Government Secondary School Numan, the school’s management, staff, fellow Corps members, and students gathered at Numan bridge to bid him farewell.
Yunusa Peter will be laid to rest on Sunday, February 11.
