Paul Pogba has been presented with an opportunity to join a team in Russia following his four-year suspension for doping.
The French midfielder, who is currently appealing the doping verdict, will conclude his second stint at Juventus at the age of 30, hampered by a string of injuries. According to Tuttosport, a Russian team named Broke Boys from the celebrity-studded league has expressed genuine interest, viewing the move as an ideal avenue for Pogba to rekindle his passion for football.
In 2022, the Media Football League was established, featuring teams composed of celebrities spanning various fields, from actors to influencers. Sporting director Artjom Chatjaturjan of Broke Boys has been adamant about securing the services of the World Cup winner and revealed ongoing communication with Pogba.
“It might sound like a jest, but we reached out to him,” he told Tuttosport. “Thus far, he has respectfully declined. He is going through a tough period and requires time to contemplate. Pogba, being one of the finest footballers globally, won’t stay idle for too long.”
The club president penned a letter to the French footballer and his agent Rafaela Pimenta, offering a monthly salary of £1,167 ($1500) along with certain perks should Pogba opt to relocate to Russia and join their squad.
The proposed contract entails “luxurious” accommodation, exclusive from other players, in Odintsovo.
Pogba is confronted with the prospect of an extended absence from the pitch until the age of 35.
