Timini Egbuson, a prominent figure in Nollywood, has explained why he views himself as a more significant actor compared to his colleague Zubby Michael.
During a recent interview with Cool FM, the 36-year-old actor asserted that he has starred in more blockbusters than Zubby. Their disagreement about who holds the title of the best actor in Africa intensified during the first episode of the Prime Video original reality show, ‘Ebuka Turns Up Africa.’
While distributing gifts to other participants of the show, Egbuson boasted about being the foremost actor out of Africa, which elicited a strong reaction from Michael. Zubby retorted by stating that he could financially surpass Timini, sparking widespread outrage online.
Timini is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable faces in Nollywood, known for his compelling performances in hit movies such as ‘A Tribe Called Judah,’ ‘Tinsel,’ ‘Breaded Life,’ ‘Hey You,’ and many others. In the recent interview, Timini emphasized his relevance and consistency in the movie industry, pointing out his numerous box office successes. He confidently asserted that he is the preeminent actor in the Nollywood industry.
In his words, “If you watch the show right, I was not talking about Zubby, I consider myself the biggest actor every day. It was not about Zubby, I’m the biggest actor in Africa”.
“Statistically speaking, in terms of quality of movies that we shoot, the range of movies that we shoot, the number of movies that we shot, the box office movies, popularity among industry peers, years of relevant and years of consistency, there is no way Zubby will score higher than me”.
