In Germany, a man was assaulted by his pet dog, which bit off his penis and consumed it.
Authorities were alerted by neighbors to a disturbance originating from the man’s residence in Herne, northwest Germany, around 2 a.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival, responders heard cries of pain emanating from inside the house and forced entry to discover the 66-year-old man and his dog.
Recognizing the severity of the man’s injuries, police swiftly transported him to the hospital. According to German publication Bild, neither the man’s penis nor any related evidence has been recovered from the scene thus far, and the victim remains unable to provide details due to his condition.
Officials are considering the possibility that the dog caused the man’s injuries, though other scenarios, such as a sexual mishap or criminal activity, are also being explored. First Police Chief Inspector Frank Lemanis, from the Bochum police, informed Bild that the man has been placed in a medically induced coma, and authorities hope to question him soon.
While the incident transpired on Monday night, police are now seeking information from the public to assist in their investigation. A homicide unit has been assigned to the case to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident, which remains largely unresolved.
